Square One enjoyed a great weekend of conversation, networking and possibilities at Missionfest Manitoba, held at Church of the Rock in Winnipeg on April 29 to May 1, 2022.
On Saturday afternoon, Executive Director Shoaib Ebadi spoke at a plenary session on the topic of “Afghanistan: Violence, Hunger and Hope”. One person commented that Shoaib had given a lot of information about Afghanistan, but he connected so well with the audience because he spoke from the heart.
“I was born and raised in Afghanistan, which has become the most dangerous place and and also one of the poorest countries in the world. We, as followers of Jesus, believe there is always hope in the Lord Jesus. Pray that God will have mercy on the people of Afghanistan. Pray, pray, pray.” - Shoaib Ebadi.
Shoaib also spoke at a break-out session about the impact Christian media can have on global crisis zones.
Meanwhile, Emily Wiebe staffed the Square One exhibit with assists from Eric Boorman, Shoaib Ebadi, and Ingrid Koss. A common question people have when they come to our table is if we have a program in this language, for that audience. If we don't, it can lead to a conversation about the possibility for them to partner with us on that kind of project.
“We want people to know what we do," explains Eric. "Be we also want them to know that we have the capacity to work with them on the programs they’d like to create.”
When God puts the passion to share the life-changing message of Jesus Christ into someone's heart, we want to encourage and empower them.
Says Emily, “We’re open to so many new opportunities. Let's at least have the conversation.”
“Once people realize that they can actually create a program for the people who are most dear to them, they get really quiet and you can see the wheels start turning,” adds Ingrid.
Missionfest Manitoba is an opportunity for Christians in Manitoba to come together and see how they can join with what God is already doing through various local ministries.
