Our Square One leadership team and regional liaisons have been hard at work over the last few months, sharing about our mission and projects at a variety of conferences and assemblies across Canada.
We’ve had a presence at events like the Ontario Mennonite Brethren (MB) Conference in Kitchener/Waterloo in February, where our Associate Director Scott spoke, as well as having a booth at both the Manitoba MB Conference and Awesome Kidman Conference here in Winnipeg. These two events in particular allowed us to make a large impact.
This year’s Manitoba Missionfest at Church of the Rock ended up being an incredibly active time for us.

Not only was it a great time of connecting and sharing our mission with hundreds of people at our booth over the 3 days of the conference, but our team also had other opportunities to share with attendees.
Russian media producer Albina Nikitina gave a presentation on the work she does to reach Russian-speaking youth through the online video puppet show Ella’s Backyard Vlog at one of the conference’s Saturday breakout sessions. On top of that, our production team and the host of our new English video podcast series Beauty for Ashes, Dana Rogalsky, were able to film a handful of interviews during the festivities for future episodes of the program.Â
Earlier in March, our Executive Director Shoaib Ebadi was invited to be the keynote speaker at the Mission Vision conference in Fort St John, BC. He was able to share about his work with our Dari-language live satellite TV show Raze Zindagi (Secret of Life) at one of the conference’s seminars. Ben Wall, co-host of our Low German video podcast series De Stemm fa Hopninj (Voice of Hope), also had a seminar slot at the conference where he spoke about keeping Christian faith as the core of your marriage and/or family life - a theme that is also discussed with his wife Lisa on Voice of Hope.
