Encuentro
A radio show and podcast that features stories and interviews with people who have found hope and restoration in Jesus Christ.
Established by Honduran native Ernesto Pinto in 1991, Encuentro (Encounter) has been bringing Spanish-speaking men and women closer to Christ for over 30 years. Broadcasting on over 1,800 radio stations across Latin America and around the globe, Square One World Media has never had to buy airtime for the program.
In 2024, after several years of mentorship, Ernesto passed on production of Encuentro to Heriberto Ayala. Originally from Paraguay, Heriberto continues to host this inspiring radio show and podcast featuring stories and interviews with people who have found hope and restoration in Jesus.
Heriberto also started a new short Spanish devotional video series titled Semilla (Seed) in 2024. The series is available on YouTube and TikTok.
Program Host
Heriberto Ayala
Heriberto is Square One World Media’s Spanish Media Coordinator. In addition to producing Encuentro and co-producing Encuentro Familiar, Heriberto oversees editing, distribution, social media and listener correspondence for all Spanish programming.
Heriberto grew up in the Paraguayan Chaco, one of the most sparsely inhabited areas in South America. After finishing grade school, Heriberto accepted Jesus as his Savior at age 19, prompting him to study Theology and Palliative Care at the Evangelical University of Paraguay. He also earned a degree in Negotiation and Mediation and finished a 1-year course entitled “Radio and TV Broadcasting”.
Starting with Square One as a volunteer in 2017, Heriberto became a full-time employee this year. He lives with his wife of 20 years, Viola, and has 4 daughters. In his free time, Heriberto enjoys soccer, running and camping, and hopes to get a master’s degree in counseling in the future.
