Ernesto and Marina at the 8th Pastors and Leaders Retreat in the Dominican Republic

On May 24-26, Ernesto and Marina joined Walter and Carol Warkentin of Dominican Vision to lead their 8th consecutive Pastors and Leaders Retreat in La Vega, Dominican Republic. 220 couples, singles, youth and children attended the retreat. This year’s theme was on Relationships: with God, with our spouse, and with our family.

Ernesto taught that communication is an art we need to learn intentionally, and that forgiveness is key to good relationships. Many of the pastors don’t have theological training. They ask for Ernesto’s notes so they can preach these same messages in their own churches.

On Friday afternoon, Marina shared about “Making decisions God’s way” with 73 women.  This is a relevant topic because many women in the Dominican live as slaves to drugs and prostitution. Marina privately counselled women who told very painful stories of abandonment, abuse and prostitution.

Marina reports, “During these two and a half days we saw many people come to the altar to renew their commitment to Jesus, others came to accept Him for the first time, and many came for healing.”
